Wolverhampton Wanderers were defeated 2–0 by AFC Bournemouth at Molineux Stadium. The hosts started brightly, taking the game to the opposition and creating early chances. Mateus Mane had a goal ruled out for offside after connecting with a cross from R. Gomes, while Arokodare was close to reaching another dangerous delivery from the wing-back.
Bournemouth took the lead following a mistake by Andre, which allowed Junior Kroupi to finish in excellent fashion in the 33rd minute. Wolves struggled after going behind, though Jose Sa made a key save to deny Amine Adli and prevent a second goal before half-time.
In the second half, Wolves had periods of pressure but struggled to convert their chances. Tolu Arokodare had multiple opportunities, including a golden chance from Hugo Bueno’s cross that he shot straight at goalkeeper Petrovic, and another effort fired over the bar. Joao Gomes and substitute Jorgen Strand Larsen also had chances but failed to score. Wolves came close when Hugo Bueno’s corner was headed onto the post by Joao Gomes.
Bournemouth sealed the win in injury time when Rayan beat Joao Gomes, reached the byline, and set up Alex Scott, who finished from close range to make it 2–0.
The Super Eagles Striker Arokodare finished the match with five shots, three on target, and two big chances, while completing 16 of 20 passes. Despite Wolves’ defeat, he was heavily involved in the attacking play and created most of the home side’s meaningful opportunities.
