Wilfred Ndidi marked a memorable moment in his Besiktas career on Wednesday by scoring his first goal for the club in their 2-0 triumph over Konyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig.

The Super Eagles Midfielder, recently named the team’s vice-captain, played a pivotal role in midfield. Partnering with captain Orkun Kökcü, the pair controlled the tempo of the game, and it was Kökcü who set up Ndidi’s opener with a clever assist midway through the first half.

Konyaspor responded with waves of attacks, but Besiktas remained organized and composed, taking a 1-0 lead into the halftime break.

In the second half, Besiktas absorbed pressure well and continued to threaten on the counter. Their patience paid off in the 73rd minute when Tammy Abraham pounced on a poor touch from Konyaspor goalkeeper Derniz Ertas. The English forward stole the ball and slotted it home to extend the lead.

Abraham nearly grabbed a brace late in the game, only for his 85th-minute strike to be chalked off after a VAR review.

With this win, Besiktas climb to sixth in the league standings on 16 points, while Konyaspor drop to ninth with 11. Next up, Besiktas travel to face Kasimpaşa, as Konyaspor look to recover in their fixture against Gençlerbirliği.
