Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi marked his return from the recent burial of his father with an emotional and commanding performance as Beşiktaş J.K. defeated Göztepe S.K. 4-0 in their Turkish Süper Lig clash at Tüpraş Stadyumu.
Beşiktaş took control early, with Ndidi opening the scoring in the 9th minute. The Nigerian rose highest at the near post to powerfully head home a perfectly placed corner from Orkun Kökçü, giving the home side a dream start. His goal was particularly poignant, coming just days after he lost his father, demonstrating remarkable focus and resilience.

The Black Eagles doubled their lead in the 36th minute when Amir Murillo reacted fastest inside the box. Kristjan Asllani’s incisive through pass allowed Murillo to turn and fire a low, powerful strike that struck the crossbar before crossing the line, making it 2-0 by halftime.
Beşiktaş maintained their dominance after the break. A third goal came midway through the second half when a slick passing move opened up Göztepe’s defence, and the final touch was slotted into the bottom corner. The hosts completed the rout late in the game with a fourth goal, capping off a comprehensive victory.
Ndidi was a standout throughout the match. He completed 43 passes, 33 of them accurate, made two tackles, contributed nine key defensive actions, won all seven of his aerial duels, and claimed four out of seven ground duels. He also had one shot and made 60 touches, showcasing his dominance and influence in midfield despite the emotional circumstances surrounding his return.
The win helps Beşiktaş move to 4th place in the league with 43 points, while Göztepe remain in 5th with 41 points, leaving both teams close in the race for top positions.
