Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen stamped his authority on Europe’s elite stage yet again, delivering a breathtaking hat-trick to propel Galatasaray to a 3-0 away victory at Ajax.

His three strikes, two from the penalty spot and one with a powerful header, moved him clear at the summit of the competition’s scoring charts on matchday 4.

Osimhen opened the scoring in the 59th minute when he rose to meet a cross from Leroy Sane and thumped the ball past the keeper. He then calmly converted a penalty in the 66th minute after a hand-ball and wrapped up his treble with another spot-kick in the 78th minute when Ajax again erred in the box.

That strikes his tally this season in the Champions League to six goals, one more than the likes of Erling Haaland, Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappé, who remain on five each.

For Nigeria, the performance is gold: Osimhen is not just leading the scoring race, he’s sending a message, Super Eagles talent can dominate the biggest stage. For Galatasaray, his goals are fuelling their ambitions in a group suddenly full of possibilities.

With this kind of form, Nigerian fans can hope he brings the same fire into the upcoming World Cup qualifiers in Morocco. The playoffs are looming, and we expect Osimhen to carry his Champions League momentum into those vital matches for the Super Eagles.
