Chibuike Nwaiwu celebrates a goal for Wolfsberger AC

Turkish giants Trabzonspor have reached a full agreement with Austrian side Wolfsberger AC (WAC) for the transfer of Nigerian defender Chibuike Nwaiwu.

According to transfer sources, both clubs and the player have finalised terms, with Nwaiwu expected to arrive in Istanbul later today at 23:45 to complete the formalities and undergo medical checks ahead of the move.

The highly rated centre-back enjoyed a successful spell with Wolfsberger AC, playing a key role in their 2024/25 Austrian Cup triumph, a historic achievement for the club. Before moving to Europe, Nwaiwu was part of the Enyimba Aba squad that won the Nigerian league title in the 2022/23 season, underlining his experience at both domestic and continental levels.

Trabzonspor see the young Nigerian as a long-term defensive reinforcement as they continue to rebuild ahead of the new campaign, with expectations that his physical presence and composure will strengthen their back line.

An official announcement is expected once the player completes his arrival and medical tests in Turkey.
