A late goal from Wolverhampton Wanderers debutant Tom Edozie dealt a blow to Arsenal’s title ambitions as the Premier League leaders were held to a 2-2 draw by the bottom-of-the-table side at Molineux.
On paper, Arsenal looked the likely winners, and they quickly justified that expectation. Wolves struggled to exit their own half as Declan Rice was given too much time on the edge of the area, allowing Bukayo Saka to ghost into the box from his new central role and head home from Rice’s delivery. Arsenal’s relentless pressure almost produced a second, but José Sá denied Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli with a smart double save.
Wolves brought on Arokodare for Angel Gomes, hoping to inject energy upfront. The Super Eagles forward linked play effectively, completed nine passes (five accurate), and registered one shot, helping Wolves maintain pressure and create openings in the game.
Arsenal appeared to have the game under control when Piero Hincapié scored from a defence-splitting pass by Gabriel to make it 2-1. But Wolves pulled one back through Hugo Bueno, whose curled effort from the edge of the area brought the hosts level and kept the game alive.
Drama continued in stoppage time when a defensive mix-up between David Raya and Gabriel allowed Edozie to pounce, firing a low drive that deflected in off the line to earn Wolves a crucial point.
For Arsenal, the draw represents a missed chance to consolidate their position at the top ahead of Manchester City’s clash and a potential dent to confidence before Sunday’s North London derby. Wolves, meanwhile, remain at the bottom with just 10 points from 26 matches, but the draw offers a rare bright moment in a difficult season.
Arokodare has already featured in Wolves’ dramatic moments this season. In December 2025 at the Emirates Stadium, he scored deep into injury time to level the score, though an unfortunate own goal eventually handed Arsenal a 2-1 victory. On Wednesday, he once again played a central role in Wolves’ attack, helping to set up chances and contribute to the late equalizer.
