Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare was unable to find the back of the net as Wolverhampton Wanderers battled to a hard fought 0-0 draw against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

Forest dominated proceedings from start to finish but failed to convert any of their 35 attempts on goal, allowing Wolves to escape with a valuable point that ended their three match losing run in the Premier League.

The home side started brightly, pressing high and forcing Wolves into repeated turnovers in dangerous areas. That early pressure translated into a series of chances, with Neco Williams, Callum Hudson Odoi, Morgan Gibbs White, Elliot Anderson and Lorenzo Lucca all testing Jose Sa in the first half.

Gibbs White came closest to breaking the deadlock when he met Anderson’s cross with a free header from close range, only to send his effort wide. Lucca also squandered a clear opening, blasting over the bar from inside the box after finding himself unmarked during a swift counter attack. The Italian later had the ball in the net but was denied by the offside flag.

Despite being pinned back for long spells, Wolves fashioned a few opportunities of their own. Hugo Bueno created an opening that eventually fell to a teammate, but the effort drifted wide. Shortly before the interval, Wolves nearly snatched the lead when Santi Bueno delivered a cross that found Arokodare, whose header narrowly missed the target.

Forest resumed their dominance after the break, continuing to lay siege to the Wolves goal. Morato headed wide from close range, while several corners came and went without reward. Jose Sa was called into action late on, producing a remarkable reaction save to deny Morato from point blank range after Williams’ cross found the defender just two yards out.

Wolves almost stole all three points in added time. Breaking quickly on the counter, Tolu Arokodare released Mateus Mane into space, but the forward could only fire straight at Stefan Ortega with the goal at his mercy.

Tolu Arokodare completed the full 90 minutes, registering one shot on goal. He completed 12 of his 15 passes, had 41 touches and lost possession 13 times in a tireless display up front.

The goalless draw leaves Forest frustrated after their dominance, while Wolves will take encouragement from a resilient defensive performance as they shift focus to their upcoming FA Cup fixture.
