Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey has been charged with two additional counts of rape, bringing the total number of sexual offence allegations against him to eight across four alleged victims Trybal News reports.

The 32 year old, a former Arsenal player, had previously pleaded not guilty to five counts of rape involving two women and one count of sexual assault relating to a third woman. The latest charges concern a new alleged victim and relate to alleged offences said to have occurred in 2020. The incidents were first reported to police in August last year and followed a fresh investigation by the Metropolitan Police.

Thomas Partey is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court on 13 March for an initial hearing on the two new charges. He was previously granted conditional bail at Southwark Crown Court in September after entering not guilty pleas to the earlier charges.

The original allegations date back to incidents said to have taken place between 2021 and 2022 during his time at Arsenal. He was formally charged last year, four days after leaving the north London club when his contract expired at the end of June. The broader investigation began in February 2022 after police received an initial report of rape.

A trial under a High Court judge is scheduled to begin on 2 November this year.

Since departing Arsenal, where he joined from Atletico Madrid in October 2020 for £45.3 million and made 130 Premier League appearances, Partey has been playing for Spanish side Villarreal. He signed a one year deal with the club in the summer after the charges were brought.

Partey has been sidelined with a groin injury since 29 January 2026 and has made 21 appearances in all competitions for Villarreal this season.

His lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, has previously stated that he “denies all the charges against him” and welcomed “the opportunity to finally clear his name”.
