Nigeria Super Falcons and Brighton goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie is mourning the passing of her brother, sharing an emotional message that has drawn widespread sympathy from the football community.
The goalkeeper took to her social media page on December 29, 2025, to share the sad news, describing her late brother as an irreplaceable part of her life and the bond they shared.
Forever in my heart big brother. Your laughter echoes in my soul. The bond we shared can’t be broken by time or distance. Your spirit guides us. Losing you is a pain like no other, but I’ll honor your life by living mine with courage. Every star holds your light; every memory, a treasure. My rock, my friend, my guide. Rest easy, my brother.
The message attracted an outpouring of condolences from fans, teammates, fellow footballers, and members of the wider sports community, who offered prayers and messages of support during the difficult time.
The loss comes at a poignant time in Nnadozie’s career, casting a shadow over what has otherwise been an outstanding year for the goalkeeper. In 2025, she completed a move from Paris FC and quickly established herself as a key figure with Brighton Women in England. The same year also brought major individual recognition, as Nnadozie claimed her third consecutive CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award and earned nominations for The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper as well as the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) Women’s World Best Goalkeeper honour.
Nnadozie, widely regarded as one of Africa’s finest goalkeepers and a key figure for both the Super Falcons and Brighton, continues to receive support from the Nigerian football family as she mourns this personal loss.
