MC Oran, the former club of Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle, have parted ways with head coach Juan Garrido following a disappointing run of results in the Algerian Ligue 1.

The decision was confirmed in an official statement published on the club’s Facebook page on Thursday, February 5, 2026. The club cited a series of poor performances as the reason for terminating the Spanish coach’s contract, with Tuesday’s 1 0 home defeat to Olympique Akbou in the 17th round of the league proving decisive.

Mounting pressure from supporters after the loss forced the Mouloudia Club Oranais hierarchy into action, prompting a change in the technical direction of the team as they look to revive their season.

In the statement, the club said: “The management of Mouloudia Club of Oran announces the termination of the contract of the team’s coach, Juan Carlos Garrido, following a series of negative results recorded during the recent period.

On this occasion, the management of Mouloudia extends its best wishes to Coach Garrido for success in his future assignments.”

MC Oran have failed to win any of their last six league matches, a run that has seen them slide to eighth place on the table with 23 points. Their struggles have also been compounded by an early exit from the Algerian Cup, further increasing dissatisfaction among fans.

Juan Garrido, who was appointed at the start of September 2025, leaves the club with a record of five wins, four draws and five defeats. His departure brings an end to a second spell in Algerian football that again failed to deliver sustained success, following an earlier stint with USM Alger.
