Semi Ajayi is close to making his return for Hull City A.F.C. ahead of their Championship clash with Portsmouth F.C. this weekend.
Hull City manager Sergej Jakirović confirmed that the Super Eagles defender is nearing full fitness after spending several weeks on the sidelines. The 32 year old has not featured in the club’s last seven matches in all competitions after suffering a hamstring injury during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Speaking to Hull Live, Jakirović revealed that Ajayi has resumed normal training with the squad and is progressing well.
He said Ajayi trained normally with the team, which is positive news, and added that a decision will be made on whether he will be available for the trip to Portsmouth or possibly included in the squad for the following match against Ipswich Town F.C. on Tuesday.
Ajayi’s return would provide a timely boost for Hull City as they continue their push in the Championship. It could also help the defender regain match fitness ahead of the upcoming FIFA international window in March, when he may be called up again to represent Nigeria.
