Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions Remo Stars have dismissed reports suggesting that head coach Daniel Ogunmodede is on the verge of being sacked or resigning from his position.
In an official statement released on Wednesday, the club described the rumours as “false and misleading,” confirming that Ogunmodede remains fully in charge of the technical crew.
“Coach Daniel Ogunmodede remains an integral part of our technical crew and continues to serve as the head coach of Remo Stars FC,” the statement read.
Despite enduring a difficult start to the 2025/26 NPFL season, sitting 17th on the table with 10 points from eight matches and suffering an early CAF Champions League exit following a 7-1 aggregate defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns, the club’s management has reiterated its unwavering confidence in Ogunmodede.
The 2024/25 NPFL title-winning coach, who guided the club to their first-ever domestic league triumph, is currently attending a CAF B coaching course in Abuja, which the club described as part of his “ongoing professional and technical development.”
Remo Stars also confirmed that Ogunmodede remains part of Nigeria’s national team coaching setup, contributing to preparations for the FIFA World Cup African play-offs, the potential intercontinental play-off, and the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) later this year.
“We firmly believe this is a time for collective national support and dedication to the success of Nigerian football,” the club added.
The Remo Stars board concluded by reaffirming their faith in Ogunmodede, describing him as “a valued and vital member of the Remo Stars family,” and expressing optimism that he will return stronger from his current national and professional commitments.
