Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu continued his remarkable scoring form as he netted the decisive goal in Trabzonspor’s 1-0 victory over Rizespor in Matchday 26 of the Turkish Super Lig.

The Nigerian forward had only recently reached the 20 goal mark for the season in a match against Kayserispor on Monday and maintained his impressive run by delivering the winner early in the second half.

After a closely contested first half in which both sides struggled to create clear chances, Trabzonspor eventually broke the deadlock in the 51st minute. The move began when Oleksandr Zubkov kept a dangerous cross alive inside the penalty area instead of letting it drift out. His quick reaction allowed him to square the ball across goal where Onuachu was perfectly positioned to finish from six yards into an empty net.

The goal proved enough to secure all three points for the home side as they held firm defensively to prevent Rizespor from finding an equaliser.

Onuachu’s latest strike continues an extraordinary run of form since returning from international duty with Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The towering striker has now scored in every match for his club during that period, finding the net in ten consecutive games and registering twelve goals across that stretch.

His recent scoring streak has also placed him in the club’s history books. Paul Onuachu has become the first Trabzonspor player since the 1992 season to score in eight consecutive league matches.

The Nigerian striker played the full 90 minutes in the narrow victory, completing 11 of his 14 passes and recording 34 touches as he led the line effectively throughout the contest.

The win lifts Trabzonspor to 57 points in the Turkish Super Lig standings, drawing them level on points with second placed Fenerbahce as the race at the top of the table continues to intensify.
