Galatasaray S.K. have left out Victor Osimhen from their squad for tonight’s Turkish Cup match against Alanyaspor.

The club confirmed in an official statement that Osimhen is among several key players who have been excluded to allow for what was described as active rest. The decision comes as Galatasaray manage player workload during a demanding period in their schedule.

According to the statement, players including Ugurcan Cakir, Davinson Sanchez, Abdulkerim Bardakci, Osimhen and Mario Lemina are following special training programs focused on recovery. Roland Sallai, Yunus Akgun and Mauro Icardi were also left out due to minor fitness concerns.

Osimhen was in top form against the same opponent last weekend in the league, where he scored one goal and provided an assist. However, the club has opted to protect the striker as they prepare for a busy run of fixtures.

Galatasaray are set to play six matches in 19 days, including a two legged UEFA Champions League tie against Liverpool F.C.. With crucial games ahead, squad rotation has become necessary.

Osimhen is expected to return to action for the Istanbul derby against Beşiktaş J.K. this weekend. The 27 year old forward has been one of the team’s standout performers this season, registering 17 goals and six assists in 25 appearances across all competitions.
