Victor Osimhen remains the headline act. His Galatasaray side have been paired with English heavyweights Liverpool in what promises to be one of the standout ties of the round. Interestingly, the two clubs are not strangers this season. They met during the league phase at Rams Park, where Galatasaray edged a 1–0 victory, with Osimhen finding the decisive goal.

Historically, meetings between both sides in European competition have been limited but competitive, with Galatasaray holding their own across previous encounters. However, Liverpool’s pedigree in knockout football means the Turkish champions will need another disciplined, high-level performance over two legs to progress.

Ademola Lookman’s Atletico Madrid will face Tottenham Hotspur in a tie that appears balanced on paper. Tottenham have endured an inconsistent domestic campaign, and Atletico’s experience in navigating tense knockout fixtures could prove decisive. While the clubs do not share extensive recent Champions League history, this clash offers both sides a clear route to stake their claim for a quarter-final place.

Nathan Tella arguably faces the steepest hurdle. Bayer Leverkusen have drawn Arsenal, one of the standout teams in this season’s competition. The Gunners topped the league phase unbeaten and have shown consistency both domestically and in Europe. Leverkusen will need to be tactically sharp and clinical across both legs to overcome the London side’s attacking depth and defensive organisation.

Elsewhere in the draw, several heavyweight fixtures underline the quality left in the competition. Barcelona will meet Newcastle United, Paris Saint-Germain take on Chelsea, while Real Madrid clash with Manchester City. Atalanta will battle Bayern Munich, and Bodø/Glimt square off against Sporting CP.

With first-leg matches scheduled for early March, attention now shifts from the draw room to the pitch, where Nigeria’s trio will attempt to steer their respective clubs into the last eight of Europe’s premier competition.
