Nottingham Forest have dismissed head coach Sean Dyche following their disappointing 0-0 draw against bottom placed Wolverhampton Wanderers, a result that proved to be his final game in charge of the club.

The decision was confirmed shortly after midnight on Thursday, just hours after Forest failed to capitalise on home advantage against relegation bound Wolves. The goalless draw extended Forest’s poor run of form and left them hovering just three points above the relegation zone with 12 matches remaining this season.

Dyche’s tenure at the City Ground lasted only 114 days and 17 matches. He becomes the third manager to be relieved of his duties by Forest this season after Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou, with the latter having spent just 39 days in charge.

Forest opted to part ways with Sean Dyche following a three match winless run in the Premier League. That sequence included draws against Crystal Palace and Wolves, as well as a damaging 3-1 defeat to fellow strugglers Leeds United.

Super Eagles duo Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi will now prepare for the remainder of the campaign under new leadership as the club battles to secure its top flight status.

Speaking after the draw with Wolves, Sean Dyche acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding his future and the realities of modern football management.

“The owner has been fair to me, without a shadow of a doubt. If anyone chooses to change in football now, that’s their decision. We’ve all seen it.

“People can demand change, and then it’s always whether they change or not. I just work very hard. I care about this club. I’ve made that clear. I’m working very hard.

“If the owner wants to make a change, then that’s up to him, and that’s the way football is now, that’s just the reality of it.”

Forest must now move swiftly to appoint a new manager capable of steering the team away from relegation danger as the season enters its decisive phase.
