The National Sports Commission (NSC) has commended members of Fasino Powerlifting Club for their resilience and determination after delivering a medal-winning performance at the Pure Powerlifting International Championship in Abidjan.
Represented by Onome Omolola Didih, Emmanuel Tuesday, Blessing Adebimpe, and Favour Agboro, the Nigerian contingent battled through a highly competitive field to claim a total of three gold medals. The team also produced the second- and third-best female lifters of the tournament, a milestone widely regarded as a testament to Nigeria’s rising profile in international powerlifting.
The Commission praised the athletes, coaches, and support personnel for their discipline and proud representation of the nation, noting that such achievements align with ongoing efforts to elevate Nigeria’s presence in global strength sports.
Despite facing logistical and competitive challenges en route to the championship, the team credited their success to resilience, thorough preparation, unwavering faith and qualities they said kept them focused throughout the competition.
The delegation also expressed deep appreciation to the Chairman of Fasino Powerlifting Club for providing crucial financial backing that made their participation possible, emphasizing that the support played a significant role in their podium finishes.
The NSC added that the achievement is a proud moment for Nigeria and encouraged the athletes to continue striving for excellence in future competitions.
