Nasarawa United maintained their push for a continental spot as they went four games unbeaten, settling for a 1-1 draw against Wikki Tourists at the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi on Sunday evening.
New signing Chimezie Victor put the Solid Miners ahead in the 28th minute, silencing the home crowd, but Jonathan Mairiga quickly equalized for the ‘Big Elephants’ seven minutes later, sending both teams into the break level.
Early in the second half, Wikki had a golden opportunity to take the lead when Ibrahim Shuaibu’s penalty struck the upright, but neither side could find a winner despite several chances.
The result leaves Nasarawa United just one point behind league leaders Rivers United, who have 41 points from fewer games, while Wikki Tourists are 13th with 28 points from 24 matches.
