The Nigeria Professional Football League Board has sanctioned Wikki Tourists for multiple breaches of league regulations following incidents that occurred during their Matchday clash against Katsina United last Sunday in Bauchi.

The NPFL charged the club for failing to provide adequate and effective security, a lapse that allowed unauthorised persons to gain access to restricted areas of the stadium. Supporters were also found guilty of unsporting behaviour, including throwing dangerous objects such as stones onto the pitch, harassing match officials and intimidating members of the visiting Katsina United team.

The unrest led to injuries and medical expenses, while the referee’s whistle was reportedly lost during the chaos.

As part of the disciplinary measures, Wikki Tourists were fined ₦2 million for inadequate security. The club must also pay an additional ₦1.5 million to cover compensatory and medical expenses. This includes ₦250,000 for the referee’s lost whistle, ₦250,000 for his medical treatment, and ₦500,000 each for injured medical personnel and a Katsina United official.

The NPFL further imposed a ₦1 million fine for conduct that brought the game into disrepute, as well as another ₦1 million penalty for the throwing of objects onto the pitch.

In a separate charge, Wikki Tourists were fined ₦2 million for unlawfully detaining match officials and members of the away team after the game, an incident that caused an 18 minute delay.

In addition to the financial penalties, the club has been ordered to play its home matches in Jos until further notice. Wikki Tourists have been given 48 hours to file an appeal against the sanctions.
