South African club Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly made an offer for Nigerian international goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali as they seek to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.

The 27 year old shot stopper is currently a free agent after securing his release from Chippa United, making him an appealing option on the transfer market. Sources indicate that the Soweto based side are interested in signing him on a permanent deal as they look to reinforce their goalkeeping department.

Nwabali has earned praise for his strong presence in goal, quick reflexes and calmness under pressure. His performances for both club and country, particularly in high profile matches, have increased his value and attracted interest from several teams.

Kaizer Chiefs are determined to reestablish themselves among the top sides in South African football and believe the Nigerian international can add stability and leadership to their defence.

Despite the reported offer, Stanley Nwabali recently revealed in February that he did not have a deal lined up when he requested to leave Chippa United. Speaking to South African radio host Andile Nchube, he admitted there was no guarantee of an immediate move.

“There is no contract in front, there is no club in front,” he said. “And I am not guaranteeing you that a club will come today or tomorrow.

“I am not desperate to get a club, but whatever club that comes, if it suits my agent and it suits me, I am going to play.”

The goalkeeper explained that he made the decision to seek a release while representing Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations, describing it as difficult but necessary for his career progression. He declined to provide specific details about why he chose to leave in the middle of the season but stressed that it was a mutual understanding between him and the club.

“It was a tough decision. It is not a nice feeling but in football, you have to make a step forward. It was something I really needed to do.

“There was very good understating between both parties and it was something we both felt was the best.”

Nwabali also emphasized the importance of personal satisfaction in his career choices.

“Nothing changed. In football, you wait for the right moment, you really need to enjoy where you are staying.

“Football is something that deals with happiness. Your happiness comes first.”

With interest now emerging from Kaizer Chiefs, the next step in Nwabali’s career could soon be decided as he weighs his options.
