The Ghana Football Association has strengthened the Black Stars technical setup with the appointment of five experienced professionals as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be staged in Canada, Mexico and the United States of America Trybal News reports.

The decision, taken in consultation with key stakeholders, is aimed at improving competitiveness and ensuring a balanced and efficient technical structure as Ghana targets a strong showing at the global tournament.

French coach Alain Ravera has been appointed Assistant Coach, bringing with him extensive international experience from his previous roles with the Guinea national team and French club AS Monaco. He will work alongside Black Queens Head Coach Kim Lars Björkegren, who also joins the Black Stars technical crew as Assistant Coach. The Swedish tactician recently guided the Black Queens to a bronze medal at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and has already secured qualification for the 2026 WAFCON, which he will continue to oversee.

To strengthen scouting, match preparation and performance analysis, the GFA has appointed Spain’s José Daniel Martínez Alfonso. Martínez Alfonso currently serves as an assistant coach and video analyst with Major League Soccer side Atlanta FC and is expected to add technical depth through detailed analysis and opposition assessment.

The medical department has been reinforced with the return of Carlos Lozano Romero as Team Physiotherapist. Lozano was part of the Black Stars setup during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, and his reappointment provides continuity, familiarity with the team environment and proven expertise.

Rounding off the new additions is British born Ghanaian performance specialist Dwayne Peasah Paa Kwesi, who takes up the role of Performance Coach. He will be responsible for physical conditioning, player optimisation and overall performance management throughout the World Cup campaign.

The appointments are strictly for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and follow the GFA’s long standing practice of reinforcing the technical team whenever Ghana qualifies for major international tournaments. The five professionals will work with the existing technical crew led by Head Coach Otto Addo as the Black Stars step up preparations with the aim of making a strong impression on the world stage.
