Nigerian international Frank Onyeka is on the verge of completing a move to Championship side Coventry City from Premier League outfit Brentford, with an agreement already reached between all parties.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the move with his trademark “here we go,” stating that an agreement has been reached between all parties for Onyeka to join the Championship side, with an option to make the switch permanent in the summer.

The 28-year-old has endured a frustrating campaign at Brentford, featuring in just nine matches across all competitions and yet to register a Premier League start. Keen on securing a more prominent role, the midfielder is expected to find the consistent playing time he has been seeking with Coventry as they push in the promotion race.

Brentford were reportedly open to sanctioning either a loan or permanent departure amid uncertainty surrounding Onyeka’s long-term future at the club. The move now offers the Nigerian a fresh opportunity to rediscover his rhythm and importance on the pitch.

Onyeka joined the Bees from Danish side FC Midtjylland in 2021 after a successful spell that saw him win league titles and establish himself as a commanding presence in midfield. He went on to become Brentford’s first signing following their promotion to the Premier League and has accumulated valuable top-flight experience during his time in west London.

Having previously sought regular minutes away from Brentford, the Super Eagles star will now aim to make an immediate impact at Coventry and play a key role in their ambitions for the remainder of the season.
