Comoros Part Ways with Coach Stefano Cusin

The Comoros Football Federation has announced the end of its collaboration with national team head coach Stefano Cusin, Trybal News reports.

In an official statement released on March 1, the federation confirmed that Cusin’s contract, which expired at the end of February, will not be renewed. The decision takes effect from March 1, 2026, bringing his tenure with the national team to a close.

The 57 year old Italian was appointed on October 2, 2023, succeeding Younes Zerdouk as head coach of the Comoros national football team, also known as the Coelacanths. During his time in charge, he led the team for more than two years and oversaw significant progress on both the continental and international stages.

The federation praised Cusin’s professionalism, discipline and commitment, highlighting the team’s qualification for their second Africa Cup of Nations, held in Morocco between December 2025 and January 2026. His tenure also included an impressive run in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.

In its statement, the federation expressed gratitude to Stefano Cusin for his contribution to Comorian football, describing his dedication and knowledge of the game as lasting marks on the country’s football history. It wished him success in the next phase of his coaching career.

The federation also confirmed that discussions are ongoing with several candidates to replace him and stated that the appointment of a new head coach will be announced soon.
