Blackburn Rovers full-back Ryan Alebiosu could be ruled out of Nigeria’s remaining Africa Cup of Nations matches after picking up an injury on his Super Eagles debut.

Super Eagles officials confirmed after the game that the 24-year-old sustained a deep cut on his right leg, raising doubts over his availability for the rest of the tournament. While the exact moment the injury occurred remains unclear, early medical assessments suggest the situation does not look encouraging for the Islington-born defender.

The injury overshadowed what was otherwise a promising first appearance in green and white for Alebiosu, who impressed with a composed display at full-back. On debut, he registered a 93% pass accuracy, underlining his comfort in possession, alongside five defensive contributions.

He completed the match with 74 touches, made two touches inside the opposition box, and attempted three passes into the final third, offering support going forward. Defensively, he recorded one tackle, three clearances, one interception, and four recoveries, showcasing his all-round impact.

Nigeria’s medical team will continue to assess Alebiosu as the Super Eagles await further updates on his condition ahead of their remaining AFCON fixtures.
