Nigeria international Peter Olayinka has been unveiled as a new signing of Cypriot side APOEL Nicosia, with the club confirming his arrival in an official statement released on Thursday, February 12.
The Cypriot giants announced that the striker has signed a short term contract that will keep him at the club until May 2026 as they look to strengthen their squad for the remainder of the season.
In a statement, the club said:
“APOEL Football (Public) Ltd announces the start of its cooperation with footballer Peter Olayinka. The duration of the agreement runs until May 2026.
The player was born on 16/11/1995 and has been an international with the Nigeria national team.
In his career, he has played professionally in the leagues of Albania, the Czech Republic and Serbia. He has made 364 appearances, scoring 102 goals and providing 61 assists.
We welcome Peter to APOEL and wish him every success.”
Peter Olayinka returns to competitive football after several months on the sidelines. His last official match was on October 26, 2025, before his contract with Red Star Belgrade was mutually terminated.
The experienced forward has built a solid career across multiple European leagues, featuring for clubs in Albania, Northern Cyprus, Belgium, the Czech Republic and Serbia. Known for his versatility in attack, he brings experience and goal scoring ability to an APOEL side currently sixth in the Cypriot First Division after 21 matches.
With his signing confirmed, Olayinka will now aim to quickly regain match fitness and contribute to APOEL’s push up the league standings in the second phase of the campaign.
