The inspection covered all approved venues to evaluate their level of preparedness, identify technical gaps, and ensure they meet the required standards for hosting a smooth and inclusive multi-sport event.

Fifteen sports facilities were assessed within the stadium complex and other designated venues across the Federal Capital Territory. The sports inspected include Amputee Football, Para Athletics, Para Badminton, Para Canoe, Para Cycling, Para Karate, Para Powerlifting, Para Shooting, Para Soccer, Para Swimming, Para Taekwondo, Para Table Tennis, Sitting Volleyball, Wheelchair Basketball and Wheelchair Tennis.

According to the committee’s report, most of the facilities have been confirmed ready and suitable for the Games. However, a few venues will undergo minor technical adjustments and environmental improvements before competition begins.

The Indoor Basketball Hall, which will host Wheelchair Basketball, was rated ready, with minor recommendations to enhance court marking visibility and improve lighting.

The swimming pool was also approved for use, with suggestions for lane rope adjustments, proper cleaning of changing rooms, and the provision of canopies and plastic chairs.

Other venues such as the Velodrome for Para Karate, the Gymnasium Hall for Para Badminton, and the Tennis Courts for Wheelchair Tennis were certified fit and ready for competition.

The committee assured that all observations made during the inspection will be addressed promptly to ensure a world-class competition environment that guarantees safety, accessibility, and fairness for all participants.

The 3rd National Para Games further highlights the Federal Government’s commitment to inclusivity, empowerment, and the growth of para sports in Nigeria. With most facilities cleared and minor upgrades ongoing, Abuja is set to host another successful edition of the Games.

As preparations continue, the spirit of “ability in disability” remains the driving force, with athletes and officials from across the country expected to gather for what promises to be a memorable celebration of resilience, talent, and excellence.
