Victor Osimhen scored twice as Galatasaray were held to a 2-2 draw by newly promoted Çorum FK in a dramatic start to their 2026/27 Süper Lig title defence at RAMS Park on Friday, Trybal News reports.

The Super Eagles striker struck in the 53rd and 90th minutes, rescuing a point for the reigning champions after Çorum had overturned Galatasaray’s early advantage with two goals in the space of three minutes.

Galatasaray dominated possession and created the better chances during a goalless first half, with Osimhen going close with a header in the 15th minute before forcing goalkeeper Marcos Felipe into action with a long-range effort.

The breakthrough came shortly after the interval when Lucas Torreira released Osimhen behind the Çorum defence. The forward calmly lifted the ball over the advancing Felipe to put Galatasaray ahead.

The visitors responded quickly. Alexandros Kyziridis levelled in the 59th minute with a strike from distance before Jesús Ramírez completed the comeback two minutes later.

Çorum’s task became more difficult in the 70th minute when Kyziridis was sent off, leaving Galatasaray with a numerical advantage for the final stages.

Okan Buruk introduced İlkay Gündoğan, Eren Elmalı and Kaan Ayhan as Galatasaray searched for a way back into the game, but Çorum remained resolute and appeared set to claim a memorable victory.

Osimhen had other ideas.

In the 90th minute, Gabriel Sara delivered a corner into the area and Osimhen rose above the defence to head the ball into the bottom-left corner, completing his brace and levelling the score.

Galatasaray pushed for a winner during seven minutes of added time, but Felipe made several important saves to deny the hosts all three points.

The draw means both sides begin the new campaign with a point, although Galatasaray will see the result as a missed opportunity after surrendering a lead at home against a newly promoted opponent.

For Osimhen, however, the evening continued his strong scoring record in Turkey. After finishing last season with 15 Süper Lig goals, the Nigerian has already made his mark in the champions’ title defence with a decisive opening-day brace.
