Ashleigh Plumptre has been ruled out for several months after undergoing successful foot surgery, with her club Al Ittihad Ladies confirming the defender’s latest injury setback reports Trybal News.

The Nigerian international picked up the injury while in action for her club, forcing medical intervention and another spell on the sidelines. This marks the second major injury blow since her move to Al Ittihad, disrupting what had initially been a promising stint.

Plumptre had made a strong impression during her debut season, scoring eight goals in 12 appearances before suffering a serious injury in March 2024 that kept her out for around six months. That layoff also ruled her out of the 2024 Olympic Games due to fitness concerns.

Now facing another recovery period, the 31-year-old will shift focus to rehabilitation with the aim of returning to full fitness in time for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for July to defend the crown with the Super Falcons.

Despite the setback, Plumptre remains a key figure for both club and country, and her absence will be a blow as she works her way back to match fitness once again.
