Victor Osimhen has undergone successful surgery on his fractured right forearm, with Galatasaray confirming the procedure was completed in Istanbul on Monday, Trybal News reports.
The club announced that the operation took place at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital and was carried out by their team doctor, offering reassurance after the striker’s injury setback in the UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool FC.
“In the away match we played against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, our player Victor Osimhen, who was injured and unable to continue the game, underwent a successful operation today at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital performed by our club doctor, Op. Dr. Yener İnce.
“We extend our wishes for a speedy recovery to our footballer and hope for his return to the field at the earliest.”
Osimhen suffered the injury early in the encounter at Anfield after a collision with Ibrahima Konaté during an aerial challenge. Despite the knock, he continued until half time before being substituted, with further examinations later confirming a fracture.
The Nigerian forward had initially travelled home before returning to Istanbul for surgery, and he is now expected to begin his recovery process. Speaking earlier, Osimhen had indicated he could be out for up to six weeks, including rehabilitation and individual training before rejoining the squad.
Reports in Turkey suggest he could target a return in time for the highly anticipated derby against Fenerbahçe later in April, depending on how his recovery progresses.
The injury comes at a time when Osimhen has been in strong form, contributing 19 goals and seven assists across all competitions this season.
