Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) action is set to resume in Ado Ekiti as Ekiti Queens have been cleared to return to their home ground following the completion of a league-imposed sanction.
The club had been forced to play their home fixtures in Abeokuta after breaching matchday organisation and security regulations earlier in the season. After serving the sanction and meeting all required operational and safety standards, the league has now approved their return, effective from Matchday 12 of the 2025 26 campaign.
Ekiti Queens are expected to officially mark their homecoming in Matchday 15 when they host regional rivals Pacesetter Queens in front of their fans, a fixture that will signal a fresh start after weeks away from their base.
Elsewhere, Ibom Angels FC will also see a boost as the league lifted the restriction that required them to play behind closed doors in Uyo. The sanction had been imposed following incidents involving crowd control and violations of matchday conduct rules.
After a review of the club’s improved security arrangements and compliance with league standards, the NWFL has approved the return of supporters to their matches. Fans will be allowed back into the stadium starting from their Matchday 12 clash against Adamawa Queens.
The developments mark a significant step for both clubs as they look to rebuild momentum on and off the pitch during the crucial phase of the season.
