Super Eagles goalkeeper Amas Obasogie has been suspended by Tanzanian side Singida Black Stars SC over alleged involvement in match fixing.

The club confirmed on Friday that the 26 year old has been barred from all football related activities for three months while an investigation into the allegations is carried out. Obasogie was suspended alongside teammate Khalid Aucho, who also received a three month ban after being found guilty of misconduct.

In an official statement, Singida Black Stars said:

“The leadership of Singida Black Stars SC, through the Disciplinary Committee, has taken disciplinary action against players Khalid Aucho and Amas Obasogie as follows: Khalid Aucho: Found guilty of misconduct and has been suspended from duty for three months. Amas Obasogie: Suspended from duty for three months pending investigation into allegations of match-fixing. The club reminds all players and staff to adhere to discipline, responsibility, and respect for the club.”

Amas Obasogie has recently been part of the Super Eagles squad, serving mainly as a third choice goalkeeper behind established stars such as Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman at international level. He made his senior debut for Nigeria in a friendly against Egypt in November 2025.

He was also included in the Nigeria squad that finished third at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco earlier this year. The investigation by his club is ongoing, with further updates expected after the three month suspension period.
