Matchday 9 of the 2025 26 NWFL Premiership produced an exciting round of fixtures filled with goals across different centres. Bayelsa Queens returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Ekiti Queens to reclaim first place in Group A, while Nasarawa Amazons defeated Robo Queens 4-2. Rivers Angels FC also ended Edo Queens FC six match winning run in a tense South South derby.
Bayelsa Queens responded strongly after their 3-1 defeat to Heartland Queens FC last week. Bankole Sofiat gave the Prosperity Girls the lead in the 24th minute after a goalmouth scramble. Despite several attempts to extend their advantage before half time, Ekiti Queens defended well and went into the break trailing by one goal. Bayelsa continued to press in the second half and doubled their lead in the 55th minute when Delight Isaac beat the defence and calmly finished. Coach Whyte Ogbonda praised his players after the match, saying they followed instructions and showed determination following their previous loss, adding that securing the three points was the priority.
At the Lafia City Stadium, Nasarawa Amazons claimed a 4-2 win over Robo Queens in a six goal encounter. Sunday Ohunene opened the scoring in the second minute before Joy Iortyom equalised in the 14th minute. Ayatsea Hembafan restored Nasarawa’s lead two minutes later and Jumoke Alani made it 3-1 in the 40th minute. Bibiana Odoh added a fourth shortly after the restart, while Rafiu Tosin scored a late consolation for Robo.
In Port Harcourt, Rivers Angels defeated Edo Queens 2-1 at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium. Abasiofon Uwah scored in the 14th minute to put Rivers ahead. Atume Doosuur equalised for Edo in the 26th minute with her sixth goal of the season. Uwah struck again just before half time to complete her brace and secure the win.
In Lagos, Remo Stars Ladies recorded a 3-0 victory over Dannaz Ladies FC at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena. Aishat Animashaun scored in the 10th minute and added a second in the 75th from a free kick, while Daniella Fagbenro sealed the win late on. It was Remo’s third consecutive victory and fourth match unbeaten.
Adamawa Queens beat Heartland Queens 2-1 in Makwada. Omon Afensimi scored twice, while an own goal by Immaculate Paul had briefly drawn Heartland level.
At the Bwari Stadium, Naija Ratels FC secured their first win of the season with a 1-0 success over Pacesetter Queens FC thanks to Omeje Chukwube’s 48th minute goal.
In Aba, Abia Angels FC thrashed Ahudiyannem Queens FC 5-2. Winner David scored a first half hat trick, while Blessing Saleh and Obianuju Akwubo added late goals. Chiwendu Orji and Tobi Oghenerugba found the net for the visitors.
Osun Babes and Delta Queens FC played a 1-1 draw in Ile Ogbo, while Confluence Queens FC and Sunshine Queens FC settled for a goalless draw in Iyahmo, marking Sunshine Queens’ fifth draw of the campaign.
The league will now take a one week break before matches resume on 11 February 2026.
