Akor Adams endured a quiet outing as Sevilla and Girona settled for a 1-1 draw in a closely fought LaLiga encounter at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, where a dramatic stoppage time equaliser from Enrique Salas denied the visitors all three points.

Girona made a blistering start and went ahead inside two minutes when Thomas Lemar collected the ball on the edge of the area and fired a powerful effort with his weaker foot beyond the reach of the Sevilla goalkeeper. The early goal set the tone for a tense contest as Girona looked to protect their advantage while Sevilla attempted to settle into the game.

The hosts gradually enjoyed more possession and tried to build attacks through the wide areas, but Girona remained well organised defensively. Clear chances were limited, with Sevilla largely restricted to long range efforts. Girona’s back line also executed an effective offside trap, catching Akor Adams offside on two occasions and keeping him out of dangerous positions.

Sevilla continued to press after the break but struggled to break down a compact Girona side that remained a threat on the counter attack. Several promising moments for the visitors were denied by goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos, who kept Sevilla in the contest as the clock ticked down.

The breakthrough finally arrived deep into stoppage time when Kike Salas found space outside the penalty area and unleashed a powerful strike that beat the goalkeeper to rescue a point for the home side.

Akor Adams was unable to make a telling impact before being substituted in the 74th minute for Alexis Sanchez. He finished the match without a shot on goal, completing 10 of 14 passes, registering 23 touches and losing possession six times. Fellow Nigerian Chidera Ejuke was introduced at half time in place of Peque Fernandez and produced a tidy display, completing 16 of 18 passes and recording 33 touches, although he also failed to register a shot.

Girona nearly reclaimed the lead late on after being awarded a penalty, but Cristhian Stuani’s effort from the spot was brilliantly saved, ensuring the match ended level. The draw leaves Sevilla and Girona sitting 12th and 13th respectively on the league table, offering little momentum for either side as the season progresses.
