Nigeria’s para-badminton star and world number two in the SL3 category, Eniola Bolaji, has travelled to Bahrain alongside two compatriots for the Para-Badminton World Championship set to hold from February 8 to 14.

The Paralympic bronze medallist will be making her second international appearance this year after beginning the season on a high with a gold medal triumph at the Egypt International Championship in January, further strengthening her reputation among the sport’s elite.

Joining Bolaji on the national team are 2024 Paralympian Chigozie Jeremiah, who will compete in the men’s SL4 event, and Chinyere Okoro, Nigeria’s only entrant in the women’s SL4 category.

President of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN), Francis Orbih, voiced optimism about the team’s chances shortly after their departure, stressing that the athletes are adequately prepared for the global competition.

Nigeria’s para-badminton players are once again ready to represent the country on the world stage,” Orbih stated. The athletes have shown great dedication and commitment during the camping exercise in Abuja.

Eniola Bolaji is currently in the best form of her career after her victory at the Egypt International Championship, while Chigozie Jeremiah and Chinyere Okoro are well prepared and motivated to win laurels for the nation.”

Orbih further applauded the National Sports Commission and GIG Logistics for their unwavering backing, adding that their support has played a crucial role in ensuring Nigeria’s presence at major international ranking events.
