Ghana’s Black Queens will begin their preparations for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations with participation in the Pinks Ladies Cup tournament, set to take place in the United Arab Emirates from February 28 to March 6, 2026.

The invitational competition will provide the Black Queens with valuable competitive action as they fine tune their squad, test tactical ideas and build match sharpness ahead of the continental championship. The tournament is expected to offer a strong test, with national teams from different regions of the world taking part.

Ghana will compete alongside Russia, Hong Kong and Tanzania in a tournament that is widely regarded as a high quality preparatory platform. The mix of opponents is expected to expose the Black Queens to varied playing styles and demanding match situations, which will be key to assessing the team’s readiness for WAFCON.

Head coach Kim Lars Björkegren is set to use the tournament to closely evaluate both established players and emerging talents as he continues to shape his squad and identify the right balance ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations. The matches will also give the technical team an opportunity to improve cohesion and fitness levels within the group.

The decision to participate in the UAE based competition reflects the commitment of the Ghana Football Association and the Government to ensure the Black Queens are well prepared for the challenges ahead, with a strong showing at WAFCON firmly in focus.

The team is expected to travel to the United Arab Emirates ahead of the tournament, with full squad details to be released in the coming days as preparations gather pace.
