The Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF) has announced a 41-member squad to represent the country at the maiden edition of the African Boxing League, scheduled to begin in April with participation from more than 20 nations.
The federation’s technical and tournament committee selected fighters across multiple weight divisions in both the men’s and women’s categories as Nigeria prepares for its first appearance in the continental league.

Leading the men’s team are Sodiq Oduniyi, Samuel Dahusi, and Raymond Abodunrin in the 55kg division, alongside Musefiu Quam, Abdulahi Robiu, and Ajisola in the 60kg class. Also listed are Abdulrahman Abdulwahab and Ridwan Raheem (65kg), Michael Babalola, Ibrahim Yakubu, and Alata (70kg), as well as Daniel Joshua, Prince Gardy, and Chuwka Emmanuel (80kg). Jamiu Saheed, Olomitutu Michael, and Ifeoluwa Ogunniyi will compete in the 90kg division, while Agbadike Emmanuel, Ebuka Henry Obierika, and Adeniyi Adesoji are set for the heavyweight 90+kg category.

In the women’s lineup, Ayomide Mayowa, Amirah Oluwatoyin, and Adesina Zainab will fight in the 51kg division, with Aliyat Olalekan and Aliyat Ganiyu featuring at 54kg. Kadijat Ajisola, Akinremi Asisat, and Shoyombo Anuoluwapo make up the 57kg class, while Asisat Gbadamosi, Adeniji Aliyat, and Sakirat Kareem will compete at 60kg.
Damilola Sodipe, Omolayo Adaramola, and Jinadu Akimot are listed for the 65kg category, while Blessing Orakwe, Adaobi Onara, and Onyechi Anya will battle in the 70kg division. Queen James, Mary Bassey, and Chidimma Nmugeu complete the squad in the 70+kg class.
The coaching crew includes Lasisi Mayowa, Sabo Mohammed, Tolani Balogun, Waheed Sobaloju, Kamol Wahab, Penda Agwhlolo, Kemi Adebayo, Gift Ituonye, Alice Alumbugu, and Mary Ekpo.
According to NBF Vice President, Hon. Omonlei Imadu, the selected boxers are expected to resume camping later this month as preparations intensify for the competition. The league draws will take place in March, with Team Nigeria set to travel across the continent for away fixtures while hosting their home bouts on Nigerian soil.
