Fulham's Alex Iwobi

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi delivered a lively performance, but it was not enough to prevent Fulham from suffering a dramatic 3-2 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

United began brightly, forcing early saves through Amad Diallo and Harry Maguire, while Fulham responded with Joachim Andersen testing Senne Lammens. The visitors gradually grew into the contest, with Samuel Chukwueze seeing an effort blocked before Iwobi tried his luck from distance, only for Lammens to get down quickly and make the stop.

The breakthrough arrived in the 20th minute when Casemiro powered home a header from Bruno Fernandes’ delivery after Fulham had briefly feared conceding a penalty. Fulham continued to search for a response, but Harry Wilson was crowded out in the box as United held their advantage heading into the break.

After the restart, the hosts doubled their lead when Casemiro threaded a pass into Matheus Cunha, who finished emphatically past Bernd Leno. Fulham thought they had pulled one back shortly after, but Jorge Cuenca’s effort was ruled out for offside, compounding the visitors’ frustration.

The game swung in Fulham’s favour late on after Harry Maguire conceded a penalty, allowing Raúl Jiménez to reduce the deficit from the spot. Moments later, Kevin combined neatly with Ryan Sessegnon before curling a superb strike into the top corner to seemingly complete a remarkable comeback.

However, the drama was far from over. Deep into stoppage time, Benjamin Šeško collected a Fernandes pass and fired into the top corner to seal a 94th-minute winner, sending Old Trafford into celebration and lifting United back into the Premier League’s top four.

Iwobi was heavily involved throughout the game, completing 75 passes with 72 on target and registering one shot on goal, but it was not enough to inspire Fulham to a comeback. The London side have now lost two of their last three league matches.
