Bundesliga side Augsburg have reached an agreement in principle to sign Nigerian striker Uchenna Ogundu from Turkish club Alanyaspor, strengthening their attacking options as the season progresses.

The 19 year old forward has continued to attract attention with his steady development in Turkey. Ogundu first caught the eye at Şanlıurfaspor, where he scored six goals and provided two assists in 19 appearances, performances that earned him a move to Alanyaspor in July 2025.

The proposed transfer was confirmed by football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who revealed the agreement between the clubs, writing: “🚨🇳🇬 Excl: Augsburg agree deal in principle to sign Uchenna Ogundu as new striker from Alanyaspor.”

Uchenna Ogundu remains under contract with Alanyaspor until June 2028 and had previously been linked with interest from clubs such as Hearts and Fenerbahçe, along with other European sides. Despite the attention, he chose to remain in Turkey to continue his development.

During the current 2025/26 Turkish Super Lig campaign, the young striker has featured in 17 matches, starting 11 of them and logging 993 minutes. He has scored two goals so far, contributions that have helped maintain interest from clubs outside Turkey and ultimately led to Augsburg moving decisively to secure his signature.
