Super Eagles full back Bruno Onyemaechi delivered a commanding performance as Olympiacos secured a slim 1-0 victory over Volos on matchday 18 of the Greek Super League 1 at the G. Karaiskakis Stadium.

Coming just days before their away clash with Ajax in Amsterdam for Matchday 8 of the UEFA Champions League group phase, Olympiacos approached the domestic fixture with focus and control, dominating possession and creating the better chances throughout the contest.

The hosts broke the deadlock in the 26th minute when El Kaabi finished neatly in a one on one situation after being set up by Podence, a goal that ultimately proved decisive.

Olympiacos continued to press for a second goal but were unable to add to their lead despite several promising openings, while Volos struggled to threaten in attack as the home side maintained their grip on the game.

Bruno Onyemaechi, who recently returned from AFCON 2025 duty, completed the full 90 minutes and was outstanding at left back. He won all four of his tackles, made one interception and one clearance, recorded seven recoveries and completed 50 of his 57 passes, underlining his influence at both ends of the pitch.

The Nigerian defender has now started five of the seven league matches he has featured in for Olympiacos this season, amassing 469 minutes in the process, and his assured display against Volos further strengthened his case for a regular starting role as the club balances domestic and European commitment
