Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika started and featured prominently as Club Brugge survived a seven‑goal thriller to beat Zulte Waregem 4–3 in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League at Jan Breydelstadion.

Brugge got off to a flying start, with Aleksandar Stanković opening the scoring in the 6th minute, followed by Mamadou Diakhon’s finish in the 18th minute to make it 2–0 before half‑time.

Waregem responded strongly just before the break, with Marley Aké (38’) and Anosike Ementa (40’) both finding the net to level the game 2–2 at the interval in a dramatic turnaround.

After the break, Brugge regained the lead when Brandon Mechele converted in the 46th minute, and later Nicolò Tresoldi added a fourth in the 78th minute to put the home side ahead once more.

Zulte Waregem continued to fight, with Joseph Opoku scoring in the 80th minute, but Brugge held on for the 4–3 victory.

Onyedika, operating in central midfield, helped Brugge control possession and link play throughout a high‑intensity match that saw both teams trade attacks and goals. His presence added stability and cohesion as Brugge looked to manage the tight scoreline.

The win lifts Brugge’s spirits and strengthens their position in the Pro League standings, while Waregem can take heart from their comeback effort despite the narrow defeat. There have been rumors linking Onyedika with a potential move to another European club this season, but Club Brugge have played down any transfer this window, insisting he remains part of their plans.
