Victor Osimhen returned to the scoresheet as Galatasaray claimed a 3-1 home victory over Fatih Karagümrük to move up to 46 points on the Süper Lig table, with the Nigerian striker netting his seventh league goal of the season.
The fixture marked the 22nd league meeting between the two sides, with Galatasaray extending their dominance in the rivalry. They have now won 15 of those encounters, with Fatih Karagümrük managing just two victories and five draws. Galatasaray have scored 45 goals in these meetings, while Karagümrük have 19.
Galatasaray made a dream start, taking the lead in the opening minute. Ilkay picked up the ball just outside the penalty area and slipped a pass to Sara. A defensive mix-up allowed Sara to break into the box, and she finished calmly to make it 1-0.
In the 18th minute, Yunus fed Sallai on the right flank. He drove into the penalty area and delivered a low cross, but Biraschi got back in time to cut it out before it could reach Osimhen.
Karagümrük drew level in the 27th minute when Traore controlled a long ball down the left, beat his marker and squared for Barış Kalayci. The midfielder took the ball outside the box and struck a fine shot past the goalkeeper to make it 1-1.
Galatasaray responded before the break. Davinson switched play to Sallai on the right, who created space and sent in a cross. Sara attacked the near post and headed into the net to restore the home side’s lead at 2-1.
The hosts wrapped up the win in the 55th minute, and it was Victor Osimhen who delivered the decisive moment. Ilkay swung in a cross from the right wing, finding the striker unmarked at the far post. Osimhen controlled the ball with his chest and fired a powerful shot into the roof of the net to make it 3-1.
The goal was a timely boost for Victor Osimhen, who played 79 minutes before being replaced by Kaan Ayhan. He recorded one shot on target, had another effort blocked, completed 10 of his 14 passes and finished the game with 22 touches.
Under Okan Buruk, Galatasaray have largely been consistent this season, although their form had dipped slightly since the turn of the year. They had failed to win three of their five matches in 2026 across all competitions, following a 2-0 loss to Fenerbahce in the Turkish Super Cup final, a 2-1 Turkish Cup win over Fethiyespor, and consecutive 1-1 draws against Gaziantep in the league and Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. This victory helped steady the mood at a crucial stage of the title race.
For Karagümrük, the defeat deepened their struggles. After 18 matches, they have picked up just nine points from two wins, three draws and 13 losses. Their 2-1 defeat to Istanbul Basaksehir last time out had already extended their winless league run to six matches, and they remain without a victory in six games across all competitions.
Galatasaray also maintained their strong recent record against Karagümrük. They are now unbeaten in their last eight Süper Lig meetings with the red and black side, recording five wins and three draws since their last league defeat in December 2020.
