Brooklyn Beckham has spoken publicly for the first time about his strained relationship with his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, saying he has no desire to reconcile and is finally standing up for himself Trybal News reports. The 26 year old shared a lengthy statement on his Instagram Stories on Monday evening, outlining his side of the ongoing family fallout and accusing his parents of controlling the narrative about his life for years.
Brooklyn wrote that he had tried to keep family matters private but felt forced to speak out after repeated media stories. He said: “I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed. I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.” He added: “For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family. The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into. Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they’ll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade. But I believe the truth always comes out.”
He went on to accuse his parents of trying to damage his relationship with his wife, actress Nicola Peltz, saying the situation began even before their wedding. Brooklyn claimed his mother cancelled plans to make Nicola’s wedding dress at the last minute, forcing her to find a new one urgently. He also alleged that weeks before the wedding, his parents pressured and attempted to bribe him into signing away the rights to his name, a move he said would have affected him, his wife and their future children. He said they were determined for him to sign before the wedding so the deal could take effect and added that his refusal affected the payday and changed how they treated him.
Brooklyn further claimed that during wedding planning his mother called him “evil” because he and Nicola chose to seat his grandmother Sandra and Nicola’s grandmother at their table, as both women no longer had their husbands. He said both sets of parents had their own tables next to theirs. He also revealed that the night before the wedding, family members told him that Nicola was “not blood” and “not family.”
He described an incident at the wedding reception where his mother allegedly interrupted his romantic first dance with his wife, calling it one of the most uncomfortable and humiliating moments of his life. He said the couple later decided to renew their vows so they could create new, happier memories of their wedding day, explaining: “We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment.”
Brooklyn said that since he began standing up for himself, he has faced repeated attacks from his parents both privately and publicly, which he claims were sent to the press on their orders. He also alleged that his brothers were encouraged to attack him on social media before they later blocked him without warning last summer.
Addressing claims that Nicola controls him, Brooklyn said that narrative was wrong and insisted he had been controlled by his parents for most of his life. He ended his statement by saying: “My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation. All we want peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family.”
