Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets have arrived in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, ahead of the 2026 WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship, Trybal News reports.
The five-time FIFA U-17 World Cup champions departed the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Tuesday morning and arrived in the Burkinabe capital later the same day.
The Nigerian delegation has since settled into its hotel as preparations intensify for the regional tournament, scheduled to run from October 10 to 23.
The Golden Eaglets have been drawn in Group B alongside Côte d’Ivoire and Niger Republic, with the three teams set to battle for places in the knockout stage.
Hosts Burkina Faso headline Group A, which also features Ghana, Togo and Benin Republic.
The tournament will provide an important test for Nigeria’s young talents as they look to make a strong impression at regional level and continue the country’s rich tradition in youth football.
With Côte d’Ivoire and Niger expected to provide stiff competition in Group B, the Eaglets will need to make a strong start to their campaign if they are to progress and mount a serious challenge for the WAFU-B title.
Attention will now turn to Nigeria’s opening fixture in Ouagadougou as the Eaglets begin their quest for regional glory and a place on the next stage of the continental pathway.
