FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development and former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will lead a panel featuring coaches behind Africa’s strong showing at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The discussion will form part of the CAF Strategy Conference in Cabo Verde from 7th to 9th October Trybal News reports.

Wenger will be joined by Cabo Verde coach Bubista, Egypt manager Hossam Hassan and Democratic Republic of Congo coach Sébastien Desabre.

Morocco coach Mohamed Ouahbi will also take part in the event, which will bring together coaches from all 54 CAF member associations.

Coaches to Share World Cup Lessons in Cabo Verde

The conference will unite coaches, football legends and key stakeholders to discuss ways to advance football development across Africa.

CAF TV will broadcast several sessions from Cabo Verde. However, officials will hold other discussions between coaches and technical staff behind closed doors.

CAF said it will release the full programme and broadcast times in due course.

The main panel led by Wenger will focus on Africa’s performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Nine of Africa’s 10 participating teams reached the knockout stages, setting a new record for the continent.

Bubista will share his experience after guiding Cabo Verde to a historic campaign at the global finals. The coach has since become a prominent figure in his home country.

Ouahbi also helped Morocco reach the quarter finals as the Atlas Lions continued to strengthen their status among the world’s leading teams.

Meanwhile, Hassan guided Egypt to their first FIFA World Cup victory as head coach. The former Egypt striker also oversaw a memorable campaign that included a thrilling match against Argentina, when the Pharaohs led by two goals before the closing stages.

Desabre led DR Congo back to the World Cup after a 52 year absence. He then guided the team to the round of 32 at the tournament.

The CAF Strategy Conference will give the coaches an opportunity to reflect on those campaigns and share lessons that could shape the future of African football.
