Super Eagles striker Akor Adams scored his first Serie A goal of the 2026/2027 season, however, his effort could not prevent Venezia from losing 4-2 at home to Fiorentina.

The result gave Paolo Vanoli a winning return as Fiorentina head coach, it also earned La Viola their first Serie A points of the season.

Franco Mastantuono stole the spotlight with a hat trick as Fiorentina moved off the bottom of the table.

Both teams created chances early in the game, John Yeboah headed wide for Venezia, while Mastantuono saw his close range effort blocked.

Cher Ndour then found the side netting from a tight angle, Alex Jiménez also came close after he lifted an effort just wide.

Despite Fiorentina’s bright start, Venezia opened the scoring midway through the first half.

Gianluca Busio broke through the centre before finding Adams.

The Nigerian striker needed only one touch before firing a powerful right foot shot into the far corner. The finish marked Akor Adams first goal in the Italian top flight.

However, Venezia’s lead lasted only a few minutes, by the half hour mark, Fiorentina had turned the game around.

Mastantuono scored twice within two minutes to put the visitors ahead.

First, the Real Madrid loanee cut inside from the right before sending a fierce left foot strike into the bottom left corner.

He then capitalised on a loose ball and calmly placed his next effort into the opposite corner.

The ball struck the post before entering the net despite Filip Stankovic’s desperate attempt to keep it out.

Fiorentina nearly extended their advantage before half time.

Alieu Njie, who is still searching for his first goal for the club, raced through on goal.

However, Stankovic stood firm and blocked the effort with his legs.

Fiorentina Pull Away After the Break

Venezia applied pressure after the restart, but Fiorentina absorbed the spell and waited for an opening.

The visitors eventually punished Venezia on the counter with less than 25 minutes remaining.

Substitute Mateo Pellegrino scored in consecutive matches after racing onto a clearance from Nicolc Fagioli.

Fagioli launched the ball from inside his own half, and Pellegrino used his pace to break clear, he then finished with his left foot into the bottom corner.

Venezia continued to search for a way back. Thorir Johann Helgason tested David de Gea from distance, but Fiorentina remained in control.

Mastantuono completed his hat trick soon after, the Argentine collected a looped pass from Ndour and saw his first effort saved by Stankovic.

The rebound, however, struck Mastantuono and rolled into the net to complete his treble.

Venezia refused to give up, Antoine Hainaut gave the home side some hope with three minutes remaining. He connected with a right foot volley and beat De Gea to reduce the deficit to two goals.

Still, Fiorentina held on comfortably during the closing stages. The defeat extended Venezia’s difficult run under Giovanni Stroppa.

The hosts have now conceded at least two goals in six consecutive matches this campaign.

Akor Adams goal also failed to change Venezia’s poor start to the season. The striker has scored once in four league appearances, while Venezia remain winless after four matches.

They also sit on a negative seven goal difference.

Akor Adams completed the full 90 minutes against Fiorentina. He recorded four shots on goal, completed 10 of 12 passes and registered 28 touches.

For Fiorentina, the victory ended a five game losing run in Serie A away head to head meetings against Venezia.

The result also lifted Vanoli’s side from the bottom of the table while leaving Venezia at the foot of the standings.
