Nigerian winger Promise Meliga has completed a move to Norwegian Eliteserien side KFUM Oslo, signing a contract that will keep him at Ekeberg until 2030, Trybal News reports.

The 19-year-old joins KFUM Oslo from fellow Eliteserien side Vålerenga, with Sporting Director Daniel Fredheim Holm describing the opportunity to sign the highly-rated winger as one the club could not pass up.

Meliga came through the renowned Beyond Limits Academy in Nigeria before earning a contract with Vålerenga following a trial. He made his Eliteserien debut against KFUM in the autumn of 2025 and went on to make seven league appearances for the Oslo club.

This season, he spent time on loan at Kristiansund, where he made an immediate impact by scoring twice after coming off the bench against Brann in the opening game of the campaign. He finished the spell with three goals in nine appearances before returning to Vålerenga.

Meliga has earned widespread praise for his fearless style of play, pace and ability to take on defenders. Former Vålerenga coach Geir Bakke described him as “perhaps the most fearless character I’ve ever seen.”

Now, KFUM believe the young Nigerian can become an important part of their future.

We see great potential in Promise. He brings pace, creativity and personality to his game. He arrives with an ‘X-factor’ that we’ve been looking for throughout this season,” Fredheim Holm said.

Meliga is equally excited about the move, highlighting the club’s playing style and his conversation with the coach as key factors in his decision.

However, KFUM supporters will have to wait to see their new signing in competitive action. Having already represented Vålerenga and Kristiansund during the 2026 season, Meliga is unable to play for a third Eliteserien club this season under the competition regulations.

His KFUM debut will therefore have to wait until 2027.

For now, Meliga will focus on settling into his new surroundings, getting to know his teammates and continuing his development.

From Beyond Limits Academy to Vålerenga, Kristiansund and now KFUM Oslo, Promise Meliga’s Norwegian journey has taken another significant step, with Ekeberg set to become the next stage of his development.
