Samuel Chukwueze made an impressive start to the 2026/27 Serie A campaign, producing an influential display as AC Milan defeated Torino 2-1 in their opening fixture on Sunday, Trybal News reports.
The Nigerian winger carried his excellent pre-season form into competitive action, following his recent performance against Manchester United, where he scored once and registered two assists. Against Torino, Chukwueze continued to show his attacking threat from the right flank, earning the Player of the Match award.
Milan dominated possession in the opening half but struggled to break through a disciplined Torino defence, with the teams going into the interval level at 0-0.
The visitors eventually found the breakthrough after the introduction of Adrien Rabiot and Luka Modric in the 57th minute. Rabiot made an immediate impact, setting up Alphadjo Cissé with a precise cross for a well-taken half-volley eight minutes after coming on.

Three minutes later, Chukwueze provided the decisive moment for Milan’s second goal. The Nigerian delivered an excellent cross towards the far post, allowing Rabiot to finish brilliantly and double the Rossoneri’s advantage.
Torino pulled one back through substitute Ché Adams in stoppage time, but Milan held on to secure three points and hand new head coach Ruben Amorim a winning start to his Serie A tenure.
Chukwueze was particularly influential throughout the contest, creating four chances, the most of any player while also recording nine touches inside the opposition box. He completed 35 of his 46 passes, won three of five ground duels and registered four key passes.
The performance represents another positive step for the 27-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Fulham, scoring three goals and providing four assists in 25 appearances across all competitions.
Chukwueze will now look to build on his strong start when Milan host Venezia on August 28, as the Nigerian looks to establish himself as a key figure in Amorim’s new-look Milan side.
